Tom Ben Ishai - Soprano

Tom Ben Ishai was born in Haifa, Israel
Tom is a graduate of the Dunie Weizmann Conservatory in Singing (Noa Bizansky) and Piano (Irit Aloni). She was a member of The Bat Shir Choir, the representative choir of the Haifa Symphonic Orchestra, during the years 2004-2014. Tom served in the IDF as an outstanding Musician. Graduate of the class of Marina Levitt and Zvi Zemel in the Jerusalem Music Academy, 2016.

Tom is supported by the Ronen Foundation, Ely Leon Foundaion, America – Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship, and the Haifa culture Fund scholarship. In March 2016, Tom took third prize at the Paul Ben Haim Competition. Tom took third prize at the Art Song Competition in Memory of Ada Brodsky, held at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance in January 2015 and February 2016. She also was a finalist of the IMVAI TLV international program.

Lately she participated in the role of Sirena in the opera “La Liberzione di Ruggiero dall’Isola D’Alcina” by Caccini, Gasparo in the opera “The Pirates” by Storace, Serpetta in the opera “La Finta Giardiniera” by Mozart, Constance in the opera “Dialogues des Carmelites” by Poulenc, the role of Rose in the opera “la jolie parfumeuse” by Offenbach, the role of Tito in the opera “Guilio Sabino” by Sarti and more

Her concert repertoire includes a lot of contemporary music, such as Pierrot Lunaire by Schonberg (Meitar ensemle for contemporary music), Tema by Helmut Lacetnmann (The Israeli Contemporary Players), “……” by Haas (Cecilia Ensemble) and others. Tom is a part of a running production of “Itamar Pogesh Arnav”, a contemporary israeli opera composed by Yoni Rechter. Furthermore, she sang the solo parts of J.S. and C.F.E Bach Magnifiact (Jerusalem Baroque Orechestra), Mozart Messe in C minor (Tivon Choir), V. Williams Messe (the Israeli Vocal Ensemble) and more.

Tom Ben Ishai is currently a member of the Meitar Opera Studio at the Israeli opera house, Tel Aviv, as a singer. Also, she is a member of Cecilia Ensemble and the New Israeli Vocal Ensemble. She is also a graduate of “Tedarim” project for contemporary music.

GARDEN AND ROOFTOP CONCERTS

During the COVID-19 period, Tom offers regular garden and rooftops concerts in Haifa and Tel Aviv, in a “Pay as much as you like ” format. The regulations of the ministry of health are maintained during the concerts.

The concert repertoire consists of 50 minutes of the greatest operatic pieces of all times, including the well-known arias from “Le Nozze di Figaro”‘, “La Boheme”, “Carmen” and more, as well as short explanations about each piece, the composer and Zeitgeist. The concerts are suitable for people of all ages and do not require previous knowledge of the opera genre.

The instrumental accompaniment is pre-recorded, but the singing is live.

PRIVATE CONCERTS

Tom offers private concerts in your home, garden, rooftop or any venue of your choice.

The concert repertoire consists of 50 minutes of the greatest operatic pieces of all times, including the well-known arias from “Le Nozze di Figaro”‘, “La Boheme”, “Carmen” and more, as well as short explanations about each piece, the composer and Zeitgeist. The concerts are suitable for people of all ages and do not require previous knowledge of the opera genre.

The instrumental accompaniment is pre-recorded, but the singing is live.

The repertoire and the duration of the concert can be changed according to your preferences.

The venue of the concert must provide a private room for preparations. There will be a short sound check before the audience arrives at the venue.

There is no need for sound system.
